Custard Apples are a delicate tropical fruit and are easily damaged if handled incorrectly. Do not store green fruit under 8°C Store at 8°C to 12°C for up to 5 days only, longer than this and chill injury occurs.
This healthy and nutritious fruit is very flexible...eat raw, use in fruit salads,add to mashed bananas, make into ice-cream and sorbets, drinks, desserts, fillings for cakes and as an accompaniment to spicy dishes such as curry.
Complementary flavours are cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon, orange, honey and vanilla. Tip - put custard apple flesh in a blender and whiz for 2 seconds only, the seeds will scoop out easily.
