June 2006 Newsletter Message from Leonie and the team at the OFPC
Hi Everyone,
We hope you have all had a great month!
Organicfood.com.au is proving to be a great source of information but most importantly is making your shopping experience easier, a great way to save on time, petrol and stress fighting traffic and crowds. We are continuing to update our ‘info centre’ and have recently added some more fruits and vegetables to our nutrition glossary.
You may also notice that a lot more of our products now have images, so for those of you who shop online, we hope this makes your shopping experience easier and more enjoyable.
Last but not least - we have had a few enquiries as to whether we have access to special dietary grocery items. These have included mainly wheat and gluten free products and lactose free products. We have compiled a list and have created a new section on our site especially for ‘special diets’. We will continue to add to this section so you’ll no longer need to look anywhere else.
Happy shopping all.
Leonie
Ange's Corner
Hi there,
Well another month has past us by… it goes by so fast! Hard to believe we are already halfway through 2006. As we head into July the shortest day of the year is officially behind us so now is as good a time as any to start looking at simple ways to keep active and warm even if the weather is poor. This month I decided to try a new form of exercise and took myself indoor rock climbing with a few friends. Despite my initial concerns of acrophobia (fear of heights) and not to mention embarrassment, I thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone looking to try something different.
An activity for young and old, I should warn you that it may be a little damaging to the ego watching little kids scoot up the wall with no fear while you dangle in mid air. Whilst not considered a cardio workout, it does combine strength training, stretching and an element of tactical thinking when planning your way up the wall. A number of easily accessible centers are littered throughout the Sydney area and are great for getting the kids active.
Until next month, keep well and eat well…
Angela
A Few Health Tips
Each month we are going to give you a few simple health tips to help you move towards better health. This month we’re focusing on water.
One glass of water gets rid of those hunger pangs late at night… so even though you’d probably rather reach for something else.. reach for a glass of water instead and you’ll no longer feel the need to snack.
Lack of water is the number one trigger of daytime fatique
A few extra glasses of water each day can significantly reduce back and joint pain.
Drinking herbal tea, hot or cold, is the perfect substitute if you’re not so keen on plain water. Try some lemongrass, ginger, peppermint or chamomile as a tasty alternative.
What’s in season? Fuji, Gala, Granny Smith and Pink Lady Apples, Custard Apples, Lemons, Limes, Brussel Sprouts, Paw Paw, English Spinach, Passionfruit, Cauliflower
