Message from Adam and Amanda

Hi everyone,
Some of you have given us some much appreciated feedback on our monthly newsletter and we have changed things quite a bit this month accordingly. We have gone for a shorter, punchier piece so hope you like it!!!  

Just a brief note from us to start…lots of you have been heading off on holidays around this time, Whenever you go away, don’t forget to give us your return dates so we can restart your weekly organic delivery. You may need a bit of a detox if you were less than healthy whilst away!  

Keep checking our website as our grocery range is constantly being updated (vanilla beans being the latest item – smells fantastic.  Also organic sea salt and kettle popped corn – delicious!).  We also update the fruit and vegies every Friday afternoon. If ever you are after any organic product which you can’t seem to find just give us a buzz and we’ll dig around and try and find it for you. Amanda is great at sourcing anything you need….   A few health tips, a recipe and special offer to come so enjoy!

A Few Health Tips

"He who has health has hope, and he who has hope has everything." -Arabian Proverb  
Each month we are going to give you a few simple, health tips to help you move towards better health; here we go…

1. Move More: make it a daily challenge to find ways to move your body. Climb stairs if given a choice between that and escalators or lifts. Walk your dog; toss balls with friends, mow the lawn. Anything that moves your limbs is not only a fitness tool, it's a stress buster.
2. Floss Your Teeth: Recent studies make a direct connection between longevity and teeth flossing. Nobody is exactly sure why this is! Perhaps it's because people who floss tend to be more health conscious than people who don't? Thought for the day: Floss and be your body's boss.
3. Start your day with a glass of water: As soon as you wake up, gulp down a glass of cool water.  It’s a wonderful way to start your day. A glass of water lets out all your digestive juices and sort of lubricates the insides of your body.  Try it with a splash of fresh organic lemon juice.  Not only is it refreshing, it also gives your metabolism a quick start.

We think three tips is enough each month. So off you go…good luck!

Recipe of the Month

Veggie Stir-Fry

Ingredients:
  • 1 cup of rice (cooked and left to cool)
  • 1/4 cup green beans (cut into inch lengths)
  • 1/4 cup onion (sliced)
  • 1/4 cup carrots (sliced and cut into inch lengths)
  • 1/4 cup cauliflower (bite sized pieces)
  • 1/4 cup broccoli (bit sized pieces)
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons teriyaki sauce
  • 1 teaspoon black bean sauce
  • 3/4 tablespoon oil (sunflower, olive, canola)
  • oil to fry vegetables (sunflower, olive, canola)

Method:
Make sure rice is cooked and has been left to cool for at least an hour. Put a light amount of oil in a wok and let the wok heat up until you can hear a popping sound. Add onions and fry until brown, then add rest of vegetables. Fry until well cooked. Remove vegetables from wok. Fry rice until lightly brown. Remove rice from wok and place on a plate Replace vegetables into wok. Add the sauces and oil to the vegetables. Mix well until sauce is boiling. Place vegetables and sauce over rice. Serve immediately. serves: 1 (double ingredients for larger servings)
preparation time: 10 min + cooking and cooling of rice

This is quick and easy, and also very flexible so you can adapt with ‘whatever’s left in the fridge’! We certainly do. It’s a quick and healthy meal I use often. Amanda

What’s new in our grocery department?

We know that you love our fruit and vegies but many of you still don’t take advantage of our huge grocery range. Forget about that awful drive to the supermarket and painful queuing.  Let us conveniently bring your shop to your front door! Who needs to deal with those awful supermarket trolleys!

  • Dried fruit selection: we have a great range of dried fruits – a healthy snack to have around the house. Prepacked, we have dried bananas, peaches, mangos and apricots. We love the bananas. For a real treat check out the ‘Tropical Mix’ which is a blend of different dried fruits;      
  • Herbal Teas: we have a wide range of these healthy drinks: chamomile, peppermint, green, white tea (packed with antioxidants), gentle ginger and lemongrass. For something a bit different try a ‘Chai Spice’…very refreshing!
